The PJ X
THE COURSE:
The PJ Experience is 3 days of intensive training in: Austere Medicine, High Angle Rope Techniques and Basic Pistol/Rifle Tactical employment.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Day One - Wilderness First Aid
Patient assessment, bleeding control, stabilizing fractures, improvised litters and splinting; how to treat heat and cold induced injuries, altitude sickness, cardiac issues, allergies, lightning strikes, physical and mental preparedness; the use of medical kits, transportation considerations in all environments, field communications and field medicines.
Day Two - High Angle Environment
Rappelling with belay device, rappelling with no device/munter hitch, ascending with prussiks (basic self rescue), how to make an improvised harness, anchor construction, prussik safety, mechanical advantage and pulley systems (time permitting), tyrolean traverse (canyon or river crossing via rope), top rope climbing (time permitting), and knots of importance.
Day Three - Pistol Training
Safety and handling (range rules), presentation (drawing from holster), grip and stance, site picture and trigger control, tactical and speed reloading, clearing malfunctions; shooting from rests/barricades, windows, and seated in a car; shooting and moving, shooting while moving, stress shooting and decisions under stress, close quarters defensive engagement , search and destroy hidden target walking in arroyo.
*We reserve the right to remove an individual from the range for major safety violations. Minor infractions will be corrected and training will continue.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Pistol and OWB holster, 3 mags with 2 mag holders.
- Brimmed hat
- 300 rounds FMJ ammo.
- Mag loader, IWB concealed holster (optional)
- Knee pads (optional)
Range Gear Available for rent: weapon, mags, mag pouches, holster and belt $100
Ammo can also be purchased for you ahead of time for $150
PRICE INCLUDES:
- Safety glasses and hearing protection (but you are welcome to bring your own)
- Harness, helmet and gloves will be provided on the ropes course day
- Lunch, snacks, water and clean energy drinks/electrolytes will be provided for all three days
- Wilderness First Aid Manual
- ASHI First Aid and CPR certification card
- Tactical First Aid Kit
- Knowledge that can not be taken from you
Hotel accommodations, breakfast and dinner are not included in the course fee.
Course Size
